Sheena and Sue’s Wedding

We asked Sheena and Sue some questions about their wedding day and why Audley Dance Hall is such a special place.

In a nutshell, describe your wedding day?
Our wedding day was relaxed, joyous and filled with delicious food. We were surrounded by our favourite people, everyone felt welcome, well fed and taken care of. The setting was perfect.

What made you choose Audley Dance Hall as your wedding venue?
We had been there for other functions and fell in love with the vintage hall, and location. The Audley weir, and surrounding park has been a place where our family has picnic-ed and spent time together over many years. We attended a wake at the dance hall and were so impressed by the catering, as well as the caring staff who made the event run so smoothly and easily. Plus they had a great selection of beers!

What was the stand out moment of your wedding day?
How to choose just one moment?!? We are going to both say one of our stand out moments..

Sheena: We had our “first looks” and photos with our best people before the ceremony – it was 38 degrees and so hot but the catering staff had made us picnic packs, and we all had a chilled out lunch together in the aircon before the whole party really got started. Then Sue and I snuck down to the hall and had a few quiet romantic moments together with no one else but the staff around… it felt magical…

Sue: The ceremony – in spite of there being 120 guests watching it felt like Sheena and I were the only two people there.

What was the yummiest thing you ate?
Everything was yummy! We loved the lamb shoulder with lentils, and the late night hot ham rolls – we took a ham roll each up to the wedding cottage and at 4am a storm rolled into the valley and we got up and had our leftover ham rolls and a gin and tonic our bridal party had set up for us.. more magic.

A piece of advice to any future couples?
Trust your people. Good vendors and staff know way better than you do and have done it many times before. Lots of the little things we couldn’t work out (logistics) they already had taken care of, and it meant on the wedding day we really didn’t think about anything but having a spectacular time. The staff at Audley just sorted everything out – made us feel super special and loved, and that really made the day wonderful. Enjoy the moments.
